I have a couple of them already, and I have known several people involved in accidents. Usually the person driving the 4 wheeled vehicle was at fault. People don't pay attention, and there are too many individuals suffering from road rage out there. In addition to all of that, I have taken safety courses for riding a bike, I always wear a helmet, and I pay as close attention as I can to what's going on around me. (Plus, I am a sissy and will not take them on the interstates. Just the scenic back roads)

Also-- stats are just numbers. They are based on many things. There are far more accidents involving cars than motorcycles.

I live in Korea, that has one of the highest amounts of accidents in the world. I have a motorcycle and in no way am I going to be macho about it, it is dangerous.

I will however recommend any one to get one. If you ride with your head screwed on straight, you'll be fine. Here in Korea, people do some pretty stupid stuff on the roads and I get the feeling that some are actually trying to kill me.

What you need to learn is how to ride safely and to predict road patterns. What people will probably do and compensate or simply become aware before it is too late.

DO NOT PANIC!!!!!!!

Every time have dropped my motorcycle it was mostly because I panicked and locked up the brakes or simply lost the my head and control.

If you ride safely, use your head, and don't panic you will have the best time of you life on a motorcycle.

I would never buy one or ride on one. Work in an Acute Rehab Hospital and see way too many people come in with head injuries because of motorcycle accidents. I don't want someone to have to feed me or diaper me the rest of my life.
We've been seeing a lot more of these lately with middle aged people. I think it's because a lot of people, who have never ridden before, are buying motorcycles trying to save money on gas. They're just too inexperienced to be driving them.

Just a question for you, with all the car accidents reported everyday did you buy a car? Don't base your decision on statistics, if you think you can safely ride a motorcycle go for it.

I own a few already. riding a bike is for those with 'wrist discipline', knowing when to let the twist of the accelerator go since it can be tempting and thrilling to rev up and speed off. The only accidents I've been in is when I ignored these rules, trying to show-off in front of the girls, only to have the knees and ego bruised by a washout.

I will never buy, lease, borrow, or ride on any motorcycle. I don't see how anyone can feel safe riding one.
