It depends what you are looking for. Kia's have the reputation of being cheap and lower quality, and I think that is partially true. If I was you I would look for a higher quality vehicle that is around 2 years old. You can get some really good deals on vehicles that are coming off of leases and things like that. And you can then get a higher quality vehicle, even though it will have a few miles on it.

Kia products are actually getting to very good. I would have no problem buying one. My parents just bought a Kia Sportage and love it ( it is smaller than the Sorento, but it very reasonable in price)

If you are going to buy a Korean car, I would suggest Hyundai.
Although I believe Kia is now owned by Hyundai. Nevertheless,
Hyundai is obsessed with quality, and they are building an incredible reputation for quality cars. Kia is probably not going
to get the same treatment.

Just consider resale value. The KIA brand has very little. I would expect anything but a good word from an Kia mechanic.

Kai's are lasting pretty good now given reasonable care and maintenance but i doubt that at 6' 4'' you will be able to fit into it let alone comfortably drive more than a few Minutes at a time, try to rent one for a weekend and try it out before you commit to monthly payments.
