First: That is an over-generalization, a significant number of Americans, myself among them, feel no obligation to cater to the transient whims of vocal minorities.
Second: Humans, like cows or sheep, are herding animals, when one starts on a trail there is a tendancy in others to simply follow without question. Many, possibly even most, people, American or not, like being told what to think and do, it makes your life much simpler if you are not required to make decisions, value judgements, and assume responsibility for the consequences of your actions. Most of the men who ran the death camps in WWll honestly didn't see how they could have done anything wrong, since they were following orders. If a person genuinely believes that the actions dictated by "political correctness" are, in fact, benificial to society and a proper way to show respect for his fellow man, then, certainly, that is what he should do, I would hope he would, but if he's doing it just to go along with the crowd, where does personal responsibilty figure in? It is inconceivable to me that humanity was given intelect and free will with the intent that they not be used.

I really don't know... but I think it infringes on our freedom of speech in a big way. The first time that I ever heard of "political correctness," was in a social studies class in college I was trying to counter a feminist who the teacher let run the floor with all of her leftist garbage. When I spoke up, she said I would have to take my statement back, because it wasn't "politically correct." I think we need to take back America by banning political correctness and let all voices be heard.

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS IS NOT POLITENESS. in my statement above, all I told my leftist feminist friend from my social studies class is, that feminist women want all the privileges of being male with none of the responsibilities. This is the truth. The statement was not RUDE at all. But because my point of view skewered the hallowed halls of college feminism, it was not tolerated. Political Correctness is a college based guarantee that only feminist, left wing voices will be heard in debate. It is an assailing by the American left against freedom of speech for those on the American right.

I don't know about America, but we have the same problem here in Australia. Some of the "correctness" is SO ABSURD, one has to seriously question the sanity of the creator of these ideas and whims.
I make a serious effort to use the old original terms, expressions etc whenever I can. I will not be told by nutters to use or say something that - as far as I know - wouldn't upset any normal person..............

How does political correctness dictate our decision making process? All it does it encourage people to not be openly rude. One still can and often will make decisions based on whatever prejudices and biases they hold.

Everything has to be politically correct nowadays because people are so easily offended, and if you are representing the people and need everyone's support, would you risk offending a group of people who might prove crucial to your reelection or ratings? Its not a good move politically or socially or even economically. Now, whether political correctness is a load of Bull Slop or not is a whole other conversation. :)

I think it's because being PC (especially concerning certain media and public figures) is a convenient way to avoid displaying any truth in your opinions. For example, 'The Decider' decides not based on his gut, or what he or anyone around him feels is right, but 'the Decider' does take into account how many votes he WON'T lose by making a decision. Therefore, we have generic, bland and ineffectual governments. I can't help but think how great it would be to have a leader come in and say what he/she feels and means what he/she says....and I also can't help but think how many lawyers would be on his/her coattails asking for apologies and resignations. Pretty sad.

i imagine you're perplexed on the nature of political correctness. that is politically incorrect for me to ask questions consisting of; if Muslims account for decrease than a million% of the yankee inhabitants, why do they account for a a lot more suitable percentage of loved ones terrorist attacks? Why is a Muslim statistically substantially extra likely to be radicalized than someone preserving the different ideology? look on the reaction Peter King received for preserving hearings to ask those very questions. I easily have not violated your Constitutional rights in asking such questions, regardless of the indisputable fact that, the pc crowd ought to shun me into silence. they could accuse me of xenophobia, racism, bigotry and the different nasty word they could prattle off. that is a despicable attempt to get your political competition to censor themselves by employing providing lifelike arguments as something shameful. fortunately, maximum human beings at the instantaneous are not falling for this ruse. the newest approach being employed is to now objective those who blatantly ignore concerning the pc code as having "radical" perspectives or enticing in "uncivil" discourse. that is back purely an attempt to misrepresent and marginalize one's opponent. permitting American Muslims to have a good time with each and each and every of the freedoms offered to them by employing the U. S. structure isn't an difficulty of political correctness. that is offered that i'm unable to project what you assert once you exercising your freedom of speech that political correctness has reared its ugly head.
