No. Many parents need to be informed clearly the intent of the psychologist. Until that has occurred, the answer should be no from the parent.

Explain to your parents that you do need to see a phsyciatrist for the medication. He may write you out a prescription for six months and refer you back to the psychologist. Psychologists are not medical doctors and cannot write prescriptions. Tell them that you need proper help now or your condition could and will get worse and it could cost them more then.

How are they paying for the psychologist? Do you have a regular doctor that can prescribe the medication if he/she consults with your psychologist? If your parents have insurance for the psychologist it should cover the psychiatrist. If you had diabetes, which is a physical illness, you would need insulin and I'm sure they would pay for that. Why should an illness of the mind be different? Talk to them and your psychologist. Maybe the psychologist can refer you to a place that can provide you meds as samples. I got samples from my therapist for over a year. Some mental health centers have sliding fee scales for income sensitive clients. Talk to your psychologist.

It's odd that your parents are pay for the psycholgist but not taking his advice.

If you're under 18, only your parents can make that decision...unless you want to start a riot and bring some sort of Child Welfare or Social Servicesm agency into the picture.

heh. My mom is the same way. She doesn't want to have to pay a 20 dollar copay. She just took my brother to an internist for some anti depressants, and the lovely doctor suggested he go see a psychiatrist. lol
Not rude. Just tell em' to get that prescription pad out and get crackin'.

Psychologists don't care what you tell them; she will not be offended. In fact, if you feel better "covering up" (which I STRONGLY suggest against), tell the psychologist your parents don't believe in medication as a form of treatment.

Yes you can tell her that. She will understand and may be able to help you get the meds that you need either another way, or maybe get you in to see the psychiatrist at a cheaper rate.

ANGER OR SHOUTING IS NOT THE ANSWER TO ANY QUESTION. DON'T BE SHORT TEMPERED. PURSUASION IS THE KEY TO ANY WORK. U R MIND AND BODY LANGUAGE IS A MUST TO STRESS UPON WHAT U SAY. IT SHOULD HIGHLIGHT UR NEED.SOME THINGS DON'T ALWAYS NEED A LOGICAL REASONING IN THAT CASE U HAVE TO GO BY HEART. WHERE MIND DOESN'T WORK USE U R HEART.
