I learned from a friend to trim the area with scissors first as best you can. Next apply a thick layer of non scented lotion to the area for about 5 minutes to soften hair and make it easier to shave. Always use a NEW sharp razor and follow the direction of the hair. The lotion trick is great and when you are done shaving and still in the shower apply conditioner in a thick layer to that area let sit while you are washing your body and your hair. RInse and pat dry and apply a non scented lotion to the area. Hope this helps.

It depends. The bumps are mostly caused when the razor blade goes the wrong way and cuts a hair to where it starts to be ingrown, or it can be when your not using the right type of razor. It's a very sensitive area

If you use a dull razor, you will get bumps. I always put neosporin on after shaving and never gets bumps.

Oh, yes..... It is not a pretty sight. They do make a topical cream to apply to the area and it will clear up in a day or two. :)
