Look I am in school and am in a EMT-Basic class. In the class I have to do clinicals at the Hospital and it is required. My boss knows this and also knows that I signed up for this clinical a month ago and it is mandatory for me to go. But as usual she schedualed me to work anyways tomarrow. I DID tell her that I could not come in tomarrow but she said that I still need to come in regardless of what I need to do.

So I am calling in tomarrow and I need a serious excuse for not being there. So if anyone has any ideas please, please let me know.

Thanks

any excuse w/o a note at this point is gonna be un-excusable since she know you want off bad at this point goto doctor spend the co-pay tell Dr your really sick to stomach or something they cant prove and get a note, the company cant do anything against you at that point,

The truth is really the only answer. However I'm hoping that since you're taking classes to become an EMT, that your job is just a basic job to help you out until you get your credentials.

I would politely explain to the boss that you have an agreement on your education needs, and see if he/she will work the schedule around that. A good boss will support the employee in the quest for an education. If the boss still is uncooperative, or even fires you, well, file for unemployment and go find another one, that knows up-front that you're a student.

There are LOTS of jobs out there for people willing to work hard.

In general, you should say that you have food poisoning because people usually don't want to know the details.

In this case you are already strapped with the truth. Can you go in for a few hours? Offer to make up the time on your day off. To be honest, it sounds like you boss doesn't like you much and is purposely putting you in a bad position. You may have some hard decisions to make tonight.

Your truth sounds very good to me. Hek, I would use it and I'm not an EMT!

My best (and true) excuse was "My garage door is broken and I have to wait for the repairman to come."

My flakiest excuse "I need a mental health day." That happened every Wednesday when I worked at Wells Fargo.

Well, at this point, I don't think she'd believe any excuse.

Stick to the truth...it doesn't really seem that this is the job for you (or anybody) if she won't bend.

Don't give her the leverage to make it worse than it is already...by lying to her.

(But if you must lie...tell her that the doors to your house got melted shut from the heat due to global warming and that she can check with Al Gore to confirm this.)

No point in lying, everybody already knows the truth. Besides, it's just wrong to lie. Why not stand up for yourself and what happens, happens.

Boss, I'm not going to be there, I asked you not to schedule me (you did follow the rules to get that day off... right?) and I won't be there.

Be prepared to get fired.

or, the best one, tell her the truth. i know i know i dont know her and i dont know how she'll react but just tell her. "Hey i told you about this a month in advance and you still schedule me, if you want to mess around with my schedule i wont handle it, i have to go to this EMT thing so i am sorry but you knew i had to already, you shouldn't have scheduled me, thank you bye." BOOM thats it, and if she fires you sue her *** for descrimination ; )
