Here in Texas it is a cold front or a frontal system from the North, like from the Arctic. I forget the name's origin, but every Texan knows it is pronounced Blue Norther. Or a Blue-Tailed Norther. Outdoors it gets cold suddenly, strong winds from Canada.
The leading edge of the Blue Norther is a noticeable cloud bank or boundary visible above the horizon.

It is a bluegrass band in Northern California, the acoustic sound of Blue Northern is inspired by lush forests, clear lakes, wild rivers, and majestic mountains. Thats what the name refers to
