Depends on the severity - If it's somethiing like a spasm that causes a leg cramp - you could need more potassium (Bananas, Avacados) or to stay more hydrated, more severe see a doctor. If you are a member of an HMO they likely have a nurses hotline you can call. Look for answers on WebMD, but be careful of self-diagnosis.

There are plenty of things to try but not every remedy will help every person.
The lack of Potassium is a problem that can cause the cramping and is helped by plenty of water and a combination of OJ and Bananas ...
However, the spasms (feeling of jumpiness or cramping and releasing in the muscles) are a little different and while the increase in potassium might help, you may need to consult a doctor and try a medication like Zanaflex or Soma to help relieve them.
Massage therapy and some stretching will help most in the long run. Until then, get into a very hot shower and let it do it's magic.

Hi,
It depends why muscles are going in to spasms.
Stretching the opposite way of the cramp.
Use a hot or cold compress.
It also could be due to dehydration, vitamin deficiency or over use of the muscle. Massage is a good therapeutic approach.
More info. is needed to answer question better.

It is caused by stress. Do stretching exercises and strength training. This will stretch and tighten up the muscles so the spasms will eventually go away.

I have a muscle spasm on my back. The doctor told me to use those Icy-hot patches on it. It has worked for me. Do it before you go to bed every night until it goes away.
