Birth control is available in many, many forms already from pills & patches to injections that last for several months. One can also use condoms - female diaphragms & abstinance. As a pharmacy tech. I would be cautious of elective medications that require implantation vrs one a person could stop taking if problems or side effects should appear. One needs to also consider hormonal side effects that can cause problems for the above age group if a mandatory birth control were to be used (implanted). Another consideration is that birth control in any form is usually not effective "with the exception of condoms" for prevention of STD's something a teenager may not consider if forced to use a birth control on a daily basis regardless.

This is a good idea but there are alot of girls having sex before 14 now a days. But there also has to be education because if they have birth control then they are going to think it is ok to have unprotected sex. Males and females need to know the consequences of unprotected sex. I know this would drop the teen pregnancy rate (which is already decreasing) but would up the STD rate. So I would say it is a great idea if started when a female starts mensuration and with a lot more education on STD's and teen pregnancy because birth control is not 100% effective. It does decrease the chance but there are still people who get pregnant while on birth control.

There's a slight problem with that. They will just have sex more knowing that they can't get pregnant. When they turn 18, they will still be uneducated on how to use birth control voluntarily, and continue in their ways. Then there will be a huge explaosion of children from the 18-20 age group.

That's completely insane. For one thing, many people in this country think just talking about birth control leads to fornication. Lord knows what would happen if all girls had it implanted! Teenagers would be having sex on the sidewalks in broad daylight!
But really... I can't think of a more blatant way to violate someone's rights that to force this issue. Everyone needs to be able to make that choice for themselves.

You should see my blog on forced sterilization.
I see two problems with that.
1. Sexually transmitted disease will go on the rise from the sudden influx of teens having unprotected sex.
2. By making it mandatory you make the government responsible for allergic reactions, or side affects.
If there is a way to get around those pitfalls I say hell yes, no one that young needs to be making babies.

I think birth control should be put in the water and the only way to have a child is to get a license and get the counter-cure, etc. Heck, to drive you have to have a license, but not to bring a child into the world????

That's a thought, but the idea would certainly need fine tuning.
