Englan couldnt beat portugal because Owen was out on injury, rooney was sent off unfairly, (which fifa admitted with the low low 2 match ban) and Beckham was injuered, so without 3 of its strongest players (unlike portugals losses) and 1 man short England produced the best chances and played their best match of the tournament.
I am not at all unhappy with their performance, and i think i saw england at its best as a team, one of their biggest problems is that they rely too much on individual players. When those individuals were gone it was a great game to watch.
And lets face it portugals goalkeep is an animal at penalties. He should be proud of his achievements as well.

Germany scored 3 goals because the game meant nothing, like a friendly. If the game meant anything, Germany will be defending with 10 players. They are so afraid to lose, that they play in their half of the field 80% of the time.

The English media makes it looks like C.Ronaldo is a scapegoat for Wayne Rooney's red card.
England's bad luck is their excuse-- Beckham injured, Owen can't play, Rooney's red card, etc
The penalty shootout KO England again.... I think it's just down to the players who were not calm and cool enough to take decisive shot.

da *best players dat u claim* were sittin out durin da game n leadin demselves capative... da game had very gud defense which led da game 2 overtime....n overtime led 2 penalty kicks...da england playerz werent concentratin on da game much...i wanted either england or portugal 2 win da world cup...however england lost but still =) deyy r alwayz da best...<33 beckham ...portugal isnt a bad team neither is germany...n ur questionz if germany beat portugal y didnt england? its about practise...=)
