People will for the most part answer this question on a couple of factors. One being their age. Most people tend to have a love for the music they listened to during their teen years no matter how old they become. The music you listen to in high school and college sticks with you forever defining your generation. Another factor will be what type of music they listen to. If they are into country music then the 90's were far better than the 70's. In fact the country music of the 90's bares almost no resemblance to the country music of the 70's. Country music of the 90's is closer to soft rock of the 70's then it is to the country of that era. Now that I've prefaced it I'll give you my favorite decade of music as a whole. The 70's. I like rock and roll. The 70's still had the feel of the garage band for me. The music was not nearly as processed as the following decades. When you listened to an album you could imagine your own band making that kind of sound. In the 80's it was so electronic that if you weren't into computers you couldn't make the music. The 90's? Well like I said I like rock.

Toss up between 70's and 80's -- more original sounds came from these decades... also more variety as far as types of music.

Personally, I like 70's rock and 80's new wave

The 90's was the decade of alternative music. The alternative to mainstream commercial crap like that of Creed and Nickelback we are left with now. We need another revolutionary band like Nirvana.

You didn't list it, but I pick the 60's. That decade was such a trying time for the nation and it showed in the music. People had heart back then.

To each his own I'd say. Personally I prefer songs from the 80s. The Top Gun soundtrack is a wonderful showcase of such songs, give it a try :)
