Carry on my wayward son
By Kansas

Even though I may move through life, gaining a little more understanding, knowledge and "wisdom". I find that this song speaks to me. That no matter how high I fly, how far I reach, ultimately I do not know everything and cannot know. It also reminds me that even though life is hard and that I won't always reach all of my dreams and goals... there'll be peace when its done, and I won't cry anymore.

Ripple by the Grateful Dead on the album American Beauty
Lyrics by Robert Hunter - a genius

Here are the lyrics:

If my words did glow
with the gold of sunshine
and my tunes were played
on the harp unstrung
would you hear my voice
come through the music
would you hold it near
as it were your own?

It's a hand me down
The thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better
left unsung
I don't know
Don't really care
Let there be songs
to fill the air

Ripple in still water
when there is no pebble tossed
nor wind to blow

Reach out your hand
if your cup be empty
If your cup is full
may it be again
Let it be known
there is a fountain
that was not made
by the hands of men

And there's a road
no simple highway
between the dawn
and the dark of night
If you go
no one may follow
That path is for
your steps alone

Ripple in still water
when there is no pebble tossed
nor wind to blow

You who choose
to lead must follow
but if you fall
you fall all alone
If you should stand
who's to guide you?
If I knew the way
I would take you home

I was going to say The End by The Doors, but then I remembered... My Heart Is Empty, by Nico.

"My heart is empty,
But the songs I sing
Are filled with love for you"...

I think these two songs give a pretty good impression of my two sides, the Dionysian and the Romantic.

My definite favorite is One Last Breath by Creed. The lyrics are of course, referring to God, but I'm actually an atheist. I just like the song so much that I've disregarded some parts of the lyrics, but overall, the song is orgasmically good.

"In My Life" --- John Lennon. Maybebecause I'm older than some of y'all.

There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

Styx, "Too Much Time On My Hands"

"I'm a jetfuel genius, I could solve the world's problems without even tryin'
I've got dozens of friends, and the fun never ends, that is as long as I'm buyin'
Is it any wonder I'm not the President? Is it any wonder I'm null and void?

Chorus, "Is it any wonder I've got too much time on my hands
It's tickin' away with my sanity......"

Or maybe Supertramp: "Asylum"
"Please don't arrange to have me sent to no asylum, It's only a game I play for fun"

Kelly Clarkson
Because Of You
I will not make the same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break the way you did,
You fell so hard
I've learned the hard way
To never let it get that far

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid

I lose my way
And it's not too long before you point it out
I cannot cry
Because you know that's weakness in your eyes
I'm forced to fake
A smile, a laugh everyday of my life
My heart can't possibly break
When it wasn't even whole to start with

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid

I watched you die
I heard you cry every night in your sleep
I was so young
You should have known better than to lean on me
You never thought of anyone else
You just saw your pain
And now I cry in the middle of the night
For the same damn thing

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
I don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty
Because of you
I am afraid

Because of you
Because of you
