I have a 15 year old daughter and I think that's pretty crazy for your parents not to want you to watch a PG13 movie cause it's "too scary"...I think you should talk to them and tell them that you're growing up and that you can handle it... it's not a horror movie. Good luck honey.

I think it's crazy. I have a 14 year old son, and I will let him see it. Your parents are over-protective. This is probably a problem you have with a lot of things. Try to remember that they love you and they think they are doing what is best for you. Sit down with the parent you can talk to the easiest, and tell them how you feel. Tell them that now that you are 14 you feel like you need a little more independence. Tell them that it makes you feel like they don't trust you when they are so restrictive. Ask them if there is anything you can do to prove to them that you are mature enough. I hope you have the kind of parents you can talk to. Don't sneak out and see it without their permission, just work on getting them to see your point of view. You would be surprised how parents know what their kids are really up to. If you just sneak out, you will lose what little trust they have in you, and then, it will affect everything. They will be even more protective because they won't trust you. Hang in there. I hope they will listen to you.

I have not seen the new one ;but you have to trust that the people who brought you into this world , know what's best for you .
When I was 14 and a freshman in high school , my mother would not let me cross the street at a busy intersection when there were no crossing guards . Some day your parents will not be around , and you will think back about all the things they did that seemed crazy to you..and miss them as much as I miss my parents .

Your parents are just trying to watch out for your welfare. As a mother/father they want what is best for you. Also there is a rating on the movie that says whether you can get in without their permission or not. They are looking at that as well as any other information that they have been able to see and read and that is what they are basing their decision on. When you are older (yes I know what a terrible thing) you can watch this movie because it will be out on DVD. I saw the original movie and would not allow my children to watch it.

sorry i think that thats crazy. my brother and his friends watched it (ages 9 and 8) and they didnt find it scary at all. I am 13 and didnt find it a least bit scary. it was more like fun.
talk to your parents. tell them to ask someone they know to watch it and get feedback on it.
Its like a new storyline of the first movie. its the same exact scaryness.
take them to this website (follow the instructions)
www.google.com
in the search engine type : movie spoilers
then on the first link (click on it) click on pirates (dont read it though! you'd spoil it for yourself!) have your parents read it. They cant possibly think its scary.
good luck! (dont worry i have overprotective parents too they dont let me walk onthe streets alone with my friends with out a chaperone over 21).
PS: Show them this question. Show them all the feedback. You got.
GOOD LUCK!

Well, it is rated PG-13, so technically you should be able to go. But what reactions have you had to different movies in the past? Can't sleep, keep everyone else up, have nightmares? They may have a perfectly valid reason for not wanting you to go.
But to bolster your case, you may want to check out various reviews, or have you folks talk to the parent of other kids who have seen the movie to find out what they think. You may want to discuss with your parents why you think you are old enough & mature enough to go.
But whatever you do, approach this in a grown up manner. Don't whine, cry, carry on, or pout. Otherwise, you're just proving their point.
So good luck, I hope you get to go & see it.

Why don't you ask them to go with you? and as lame as that sounds, it can work out for the both of you. If you really dont want to that, invite a friend to bring theyre family too.
If that dosnt work for you, tell them to see it first to approve it. Its not scary, so this could work
