It probably is however it is not Americans that are overpopulating. America reached zero percent population growth back in the 1980s. The only polulation increase since that time has been from immigration. The rest of the world is a different story however China and Europe have reached diminidhing growth. The exceptions are the Muslim world where 1/2 the 1.3 billion people are under 20 years old and Africa where despite huge losses from famine etc they are still on the upside.

The world isn't really becoming overpopulated in the sense that there are too many people, it's the fact that we may eventually run out of resources. Only a small percentage of the earth actually has people living on it.

You have a conundrum; people who realize that the world population is too high have fewer offspring and create fewer people who think about limiting family size. Their numbers are diminishing. Then you have countries like India that have no clue about limiting population, so each couple has a dozen or so kids and that population is rising. i am sick of these people who think we have to berid africa of aids and famin and other stuff, they bread themselves into there problem, why should we get them out of it, there 1 billion people in india, 850 Million in china, the same number or chinese in europe and rusia, but spread over a larger area. there is 500 miliion people in north america, the 300M in america, what is better, new york or the small berg of goshen IN that i live in, with the loss of farm lands to housing and factories were are we going to grow the food we need for the projected 9 BILLION that could live in the year 2100, though i highly doubt it becuse with the threat of chick flu pandemic, and global terrorizm, i doubt we can get to those number and i hope we never do. the more people there are the greater chance there is for pandemic, mroe fuel in a greater area for the inferno to burn

we could start a worldwide program of 2 children per families. but then there the children born out of wedlock and the liberal pansies that would scream bloody murder for infringing on civil rights.
