Many ILLEGAL aliens are not assimilating into the American way of life and many do not even try to learn English, Illegals milk the government by housing cost assistance, food stamps, etc. Sucking away money from America. Is it a good idea to all move to the European Union now?

America won't be a cesspool in 30 years. You have to have faith in the free enterprise system. However, there is no doubt that we will be forced to move toward an economic union with Canada and Mexico. Just as the European Union has allowed countries to retain their identity but merge economic forces, we will have to do the same with Canada and Mexico to remain an economic superpower in the future.

Hey, even #1 must someday grow up and learn to share.

If you want to tuck yer tail and run, go for it. But if you really cared about your "homeland" (kinda like Germany as the fatherland under the NAZI's, huh!) you would stay here and be a good citizan just like Bush wants you to be and bend over backwords for all those "aliens". Get with it! The only Aliens here are the ones in the White House and the Capitol building. throw the bums out - VOTE 3rd PARTY!

I doubt that we will be a sess pool, but I do believe that if we continue to engage in economic globalization, there will be two classes of Americans - a very tiny upper class and a very large lower class, which will be partially comprised of formerly middle class citizens. If you have heard the term "gated communities", I feel like that is a good description of what we could become. However, I believe there will be a political / nationalist revolt against globalization of trade. After all, it seems that politics is nothing but the battle of extremes - like a giant pendelum that swings one way for a while, and then the other.

Personally, I believe that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. That being said, I am deeply troubled that the most recent wave of "immigrants", particularly those from south of the border, not only appear to be completely unwilling to assimilate themselves into our culture, but expect the taxpaying citizens of this country to provide free education (in their native language), free health care, housing assistance, and food stamps.

To the immigrants: You can't have it both ways. If you want to be an American, welcome. Learn to speak the accepted common language of our land (English), pursue legal immigration opportunities, and pay your taxes like everyone else. For those who do not wish to immigrate legally, don't act so surprised when you are treated like criminals.

As to the European Union, I'm not so sure it is as idyllic as you seem to think. I have faith that we will solve our current immigration problems, I just hope we do it before my home state of Texas makes Spanish its official language (look to the french speaking Provence's of Canada for a shinning example of just how this sort of thing can happen).

Yes I was at the food stamps office and I saw some international students there getting foods stamps.

I think people from other countries do milk our system even though they may be rich back in their home country.

edit.

america is still the best place for opportunity as of now though.

Get a life dude. Get off that CNN/Fox bandwagon. If you actually went to Mexico, you'd find it has history, tradition and culture. These may be new concepts for you.
