How do you wear blank pants without looking gothic and not dressed up?

I have some comfortable black pants. They're sort of like jean material, but much more stretchier and comfortable. I want to wear them, but not look too dressed up or gothic. Any suggestions?

Wear a bright colored shirt with it, and add some layering. You should probably use a very long shirt as to break up the black, or else wear an interesting belt. Also dont forget to wear looong black beads just for fun. This will complete the look. (Icing, $6)

If it still seems too dressy it may be time for some surgery. wash them alot to wear the color down and cut some holes in them. Throw them in the drier to fray the edges. Then sew around the oustide of the holes so they wont get too big.

Now if you want to, sew a brightly colored patch underneatht the hole so that it shows through. I suggest lace. Also do a cool stich around it in a bright colored thread. This will make the jeans more comfortable and stylish and not so plain.

Also you could do some kind of embellishment, but I dont know how to do that so you'd have to ask someone else.

Being Jeans materialish, there is not too much issue over formality. Just match it with a light or bright coloured top, a funky shirt even to draw attention away from the pants. Besides, black is a universal colour. So long as u dun consciencely match it with shirt or tie, or go around in corpse white make up, hair extensions, multiple piercing as well as tight leather stuff, u'll be fine.

Wear a bright shirt. Not black or navy blue or gray. Wear White, pink, yellow. Or something like that! But not button up or anything.

Wear bright colors with it. Yellow, orange, blah blah. Although, if people don't ever associate you with that sort of label, you could probably wear it with anything. My friend wears all black sometimes and she just looks like how she always does.
