Better than Tiffany, Lexus, Diamond, Mercedes etc. Please show some class and don't advertise for some company. The stone you are talking about is unique and cool! At least her friends would know what to get for a present.

A good rule of thumb a friend once mentioned is to think of how your child's name will look on a diploma, a loan application, or a passport. That pretty much rules out "Amethyst." It's a tough galaxy out there, so give your daughter a name that will impart a level of dignity, but that can be shortened to a nice nickname.

It is a different name. There must be other girl's with that name. Nicknamed: Amy, Emma, Mattie. Naming a child is very personal and should be done with consideration of where the name came from and how the child will be treated (like a boy named Sue) If she has a twin sister she could be called Amber.

Why not? Especially if she were born in February, because amethyst is the birthstone for that month. Also, other gemstone names exist--ruby, beryl and pearl are names for girls.

It is different! But unless you want her teased beyond belief I wouldn't do it. I mean Amethyst-purple-one eyed one horned flying purple people eater! Or hey rocky! Not a good idea!

not really. it sounds a little to . . . uh . . it sounds like the name of a very rich and snobbish person. But i think it would make a great middle name because it is special and the child will treasure it.

Maybe. I would definitely carry the stone around with me for it's positive energy. It is very powerful. I think for a name it is very unique.
