YES! It IS bad for you! It's like drinking a glassful of bacon! EWW! If you make the switch to a lower fat milk gradually, you won't notice it so much.
I lost a brother a few years ago to a blocked artery to the heart. He died in his sleep, 2 weeks short of his 49th birthday. He was not overweight at all, and actually looked very healthy. The only problem we knew of that he had was high cholesterol, and he was on Baycol for it. (the drug was recalled not to long after that). He wasn't eating properly and that definitely contributed to his demise.
You're 45...is it worth the risk?

(P.S. Some doctors are fat and die before their time also...remember that! You can also get Omega 3 through other, more healthy food choices, such as fish...)

The deal with whole milk is that it contains a lot of saturated fat (the worst kind for your body). You can see the nutrtional breakdown here:

http://www.elook.org/nutrition/dairy/865-1.html

Nearly 55% of the calories comes from fat.

In short, are you hurting yourself? Probably not terribly. But if your diet contains a lot of other sources of saturated fat / cholesterol, you could be heading down Heart Attack Alley.

I'd certainly look at the overall quality of your diet. A glass or two isn't going to hurt if the rest of your diet is in order, but you really should try to switch to 2% or less.

the position's the water? He desires to be switched off of total milk and on to at least something decrease in fat. Pediasure isn't needed in any respect, plus it components extra sugar into his food regimen. The smoothies are ok for a cope with, yet 2 an afternoon is ridiculous. How does he have room to eat a nicely balanced meal?

No, actually high fat milk (as little as you're drinking) is very good for your health because it provides you with Omega 3 (an essential fatty acid), and promotes good bone health. At your age, this is a especially fine.
