Ok. I was at the coffeeshop today and there was a guy playing World of Warcraft on his laptop. And when my friend Whitney saw him she said a few words to him about WOW. So turns out she plays a lot too.

I play Runescape and know that game very well. So I'm looking for some good WOW players to explain WOW to me and how it's like and different from Runescape so I can understand it.

What Profession do you do and why do you love it? I like cooking in Runescape. Can you chop trees in WOW?

A guy said that WOW is RTS. What does RTS mean?

Does it work on Mac computers?

Are the quests really good? Better than Runescape?

Are there General stores? Banks? Inventory? Merchanting? What are the good items? Like food and gems and colorful shirts and skirts? Are there special/colorful boots. Those are my favorite things in Runescape.

What are the prices for some normal things like a fish or a loaf of bread? or the Best weapon?

Thanks for any info.

Also does it take as long to level up or really get somewhere as it does in Runscape?

And can you finish the game? You never finish Runescape. You just keep playing and getting points.

I played Runescape for 3 years. I had a level 112 character. I went to the store, picked up world of warcraft and i never even went back to runescape to say goodbye to the people i had met there because the game was so primitive compaired to world of warcraft.

World of Warcraft's map is much bigger. The thing with RS is that you could do all professions and be a warrior/mage at the same time. In world of warcraft there are many different classes that you can choose from. Theres a rogue, druid, warrior, priest, mage, warlock, hunter, shaman or paladin that you can choose from. Each of those characters has their on special features and special attack/healing/spells that they use that only they can use. Each of those types of characters also have three different ways each in which you can "spec" the characters in order for you to build them up the way that you want to play them.

My character is a rogue. I can stealth around and kill things fast, but at the same time i dont have much armor so i can get killed faster. We push out the most damage along with mages so we are needed in groups, but we also have to be careful that we dont get hit or else we could die easily. Each class has their own role in the game.

When it comes to professions, you get to choose two professions out of many different professions. But with those professions you can make much more than you can do in any other professions in runescape. Fishing and Cooking are available to everybody, they are not counted as primary professions. So theres no problem with you there. Unfortunately you cannot chop trees in world of warcraft, but there are many other things you can do that are much cooler. I am an Enchanter as a profession. I can enchant weapons and armor to make them better. I just dropped skinning (you skin animals and make leather for leatherworkers) and i picked up Engineering, where you can make bombs and you can make machines that help yourself and groups when playing.

The quests are much better in World of Warcraft than runescape. Last i knew there were about 20-30 quests in Runescape, but in world of warcraft there are about 50 quests for each city (or more) and there are countless cities. The quests could be as easy as going to another city to talk to someone, or to kill a certain amount of bad guys, or killing certain bosses in the game, as well as many other things.

There are general stores. They arent like RS ones where you can sell them there and someone buys them back and the general store makes the money and not you.. Instead you can either sell them to a vender and they "disapear" or you can put them on an Auction House. When you put them in the auction house, you put a price on the item and that item is available for anyone to buy and the money goes to YOU! There are banks, they hold more than the Runescape banks, there is merchants which i explained above. The merchants also sell things that you will need, food/water, etc. The armor is much higher quality and there are much more things that you can wear in world of warcraft. You can really decide what kind of look you want for your character.

The biggest thing that i liked about world of warcraft compaired to runescape is the fact that when you need a heal, there are better ways to heal rather than running, eating then attacking again. There are healing spells that certain classes can cast on themselves, potions that you can drink or you can simply finish the fight you are in and then sit down and eat. when you eat, your health goes up gradually.

If you have any other questions, i have a maxed out character on the server Scarlet Crusade, a role playing server, i'd be happy to help you get started. My character's name is Evander, (horde side)

Oh yea! forgot to mention this! PVP! (player vs. player)
In WoW- you choose if you want to be Horde or Alliance. If you are horde, you hate alliance and vice versa... you fight them all the way up in level. The game is awesome, you'll love it, you'll never go back to runescape again!

and yes, it works on Macs..

First off World of Warcraft is an MMO, not RTS. The three warcraft games and starcraft are RTS. RTS stands for Real Time Strategy and Im not too sure exactly what you do except build a base and maintain it (think a more complex version of Sim City).WOW is a game based on the themes from the Warcraft RTS series but you dont need to play those to understand the game.

In WOW there are 12 professions, you are allowed to have 3 primary professions (fishing, cooking, and first aide) and 2 secondary (mining, alchemy, blacksmithing, enchanting, etc.) Sadly you can't chop trees. I choose Mining/Blacksmithing for my secondaries so I can make my own armor, but you can sell weapons to other players (despite what was said there is a demand for armor IF you craft the right ones).

Yes WOW does run on Mac, that is the beauty of the game is its ability to work on both PC and Mac.

WOW has all the the things that you would have in Runescape: Stores (we call them venders, but no matter), Banks, Auction Houses, Inventory, Inns, you name it. And Yes, there are TONS of shiny pretty boots and clothes.

Quality of items range from poor ("gray") to Epic (Blue) and even a couple of Legendary items (I think they are Orange). There isnt really a "best" weapon over all, just ones that best work with your characters Class. Bread you can buy in the Inns from about a couple copper to 35 silver or sometimes in lower levels its a drop from a enemy (I recommend that you do this instead of buying bread).

Here is a link to the WOW site so you can get a better idea http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/guide.html

I hope that this helps ^_^

I've been in love with Blizzard games since I was 14 years old. I remember starting with Starcraft, moving onto Diablo, then finally finding my true love and passion, World of Warcraft. I've been absolutely addicted to this game for the past few years now. It's such a beautiful, mysterious, but often complex and complicated world of mystery and intrigue. I have, at many times, found myself where you may be now... confused or stumped in some way- and not knowing exactly where to turn or what to do. Or maybe just unsure of how to advance, or reach the next level in my gaming experience. These road-blocks ranged from very simple, basic, or otherwise minor problems to complicated and complex issues. Both technical and in-game. I did and still do find GREAT help, on ANYTHING WoW related, within the infamous Zygor guides at http://www.zygorguides.pcti-system.com .. These guides are like the Bible of WoW, the Encyclopedia Britannica for anything World of Warcraft. My go-to guide for just about anything and everything. And unlike others, these guides are integrated IN-GAME. Listed below are some of the things that currently come to mind:

-1-90 In-Game Leveling and Loremaster Guide
-Dailies and Events Guide
-Dungeon and Gear Guide
-Professions and Achievements Guide
-Pets and Mounts Guide
-Titles, Reputation, and Macros Guide

...The list goes on and on.

Anyways, I hope I was of some help to you. Above all, my greatest recommendation to you from personal experience, is DON'T FORGET that there is still a REAL world out there! Lol. The biggest problem for me that I've come across is my absolute addiction to this game. Like many others out there, WoW has taken over much of my life and free-time. Proceed with caution! FOR THE HORDE! :P

The skill trees in WoW are not as advanced as in some other mmorpgs. You can't chop trees to make boards to make arrows for your bow for example. There's a limited number of skills to choose from like tailoring, blacksmithy, leatherworking, mining, alchemy, etc. The problem with the things you can make with smithing and tailoring is that there is always far better stuff that's dropped as loot from kills so there's no demand for crafted items.

Don't know what RTS is.

I've never played Runescape but WoW has tons of quests available.

WoW has banks and stores, auction houses and inventory. There's loads of different items in the game. Check www.thottbot.com for example

The prices for in game items varies alot on what it is and the server you are playing. From a few copper to many hundreds of gold. WoW is fun and will keep you occupied for many months. The end-game is poor tho so after being maxxed out for a lil while the game gets repetitive and boring. But by then hopefully Darkfall or Warhammer Online will be out!

ok well WoW has much better graphics the runescape and its a lot more advance then runescape but WoW u have to pay but its worth it its a really fun game and runescape u don't have to pay but in WoW u have classes(Druid,Hunter,Mage,Paladin,Priest,Rogue, Shaman, Warlock ,Warrior) instead of being every type like in runescape each class uses different weapons and depending on the weapon the price varies like in runescape there are level requirements for the item the items are also color coordinated like Grey being the weakest and orange being the strongest the map is also larger there is PvP combat in this game in this there are guilds as well unlike in runescape and u can also party with other people which means u can fight together and gain exp. with out even fighting if the other people in your party are fighting its a better way to level faster if you want more information you can go to http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml and use the game guild

WoW is about 80x better than runescape no offense

There are a lot of indeth professions, but you cant chop down trees.

Yes it works on macs.

Quests are very fun and plenty of them.

normal food and stuff might cost a few silver like 6-10 and the best weapon would be something out of a big scary place called Naxx

As a now professional gamer, and leader/co-founder of one of the current top ranking guilds on WoW, I can attest to what that guy said about the Zygor guides from that website http://www.zygorguides.pcti-system.com .. When I first started using them, is when I started taking my WoW gaming to a whole new level. I wouldn't be where I am today without them. As advanced as I am now, I still use them as an awesome reference/aid. Highly recommended if you're serious about being an accomplished WoW gamer, or just a newb looking to quickly learn the ropes and advance. On a side note, I am looking forward to the Warlords of Draenor expansion coming in November, and the updated guide to go along with it. Should be epic.
