I think Frank Herbert had talent as a writer, though the series could have done with less blatant sex and violence. My favorite character is probably Muad'dib's mother, who had the guts to go up against the Bene Gesserit establishment and have a boy instead of a girl, even though she knew she was going to pay the price for it.

100% yes. I have read everything they have to offer and am eagerly waiting for the 8/22 release of the next book...sequal to Chapterhouse. My favorite character I think would be Gurny with Miles Teg being a close second...I can't wait to see what his ghola does in the next book.

I liked Dune, but it has been so long since I read it, ( or saw the movie-egads?), that I cannot answer that! Guess I better dig it back out!

definitely a big fan.. so many characters to choose from who exhibited noble qualities. that leaves out, of course , baron harkonnen, who was probably a republican. have you read his son's books which continue the saga? amazing similarities both in style, complexity and overall flavor . amazing work!
