One-on-one diplomatic talks would fail, simply put, in the long term. The United States and the UN prefer long-term solutions and not bandaids over gunshot wounds.
When we deal with the regime in North Korea, it is helpful to consider that we are not dealing rationally. We are either talking with a lunatic, megalomaniac in Kim Jong Il, or at least one of his puppets with pretend powers. A man as separated from reality as he cannot be reasoned with any more than you can convince a psych ward patient to stop licking the walls.
We have, in the past, in our ever aspiring goal of peace and stability, paid North Korea off to sustain its people. This is not working and has only produced a greedy, emboldened leader who is ever testing our proverbial fences.
This will likely result in some form of military engagement or a coup. The later is unlikely though considering the great pervasiveness of the propaganda in that country.
You should rest assured though, that we soldiers receive the most amazing training afforded anyone in any country across all time. Our equipment is much stronger than any other country's military and our level of development will be making leaps and bounds in the years to come. We would not lose a war, God forbid it comes to that.

I dont know why the US would meet one on one with North Korea...we arent the rulers of the entire world. North Korea needs to deal with the world.
The last I knew, the UN was trying to get NK to agree to go back to 7-party talks. This keeps pressure off of any one country and keeps everyone evenly informed about the situation.
Alot of people in the world feel that the US has too much power. We have to be careful to not flex that power in such a way as to alienate other countries but use it to unify and build up.

I read a news report yesterday that said the U.S. agreed to bilateral talks with N. Korea if they would agree to attending the 6 Party talks. It would be on the side. I don't think we should do this. N Korea is a threat to more nations then just ours. I don't want this country to have to try and solve all the worlds problems. The U.N. needs to get some balls at last and step up to the plate on this one.

Just drop the bomb on those silly bastards, they serve no purpose on the planet anyways.. we always want to play nice until all options have been exhausted... they shot a missile that was intended for a island near Hawaii for God's sake... so, do we wait while they fix their problem and hit out on the west coast somewhere?? The other countries don't do jack but twiddle their thumbs and try to cater to the little space cadet.... nuke the mindless drones!!

No because there is a girl who uses Korean as her nationality who levitated and freed Korea from war and can free your country from war by receiving $10 billion from it

No. North Korea's little leader shouldn't be the ones to set the terms. That only promotes him to misbehave like the immature little tyrant he is. Anyone who is willing to starve his own people doesn't deserve to be a leader. He is just a sick murderer.

If you were talking to a reasonable, sane person, this would be a good plan of action. Kim Jong Il is not sane. The US needs to align with other countries.

Yes, because like it or not, we are the superpower, and have a stronger voice of reason.
The United Nations needs to go the route of the dinosaurs. The UN is no longer needed, and to me, no longer wanted!
