You sure can if you know exactly where and when. It usuall happens soon after sunset because then the sun is still on it but you're in darkness. It would be just a speck but very bright. I've seen the space station 3 or 4 times. It's unmistakable. It is moving so fast, you've never seen anything move so fast. It's as bright as a bright star. It's only something like 150 miles up. It will cross the whole sky in about 45 seconds. There is a web site that tells when and where to see it. It will show exactly when and where they say. It's something everyone should see.

Yes...it all depends on how far from earth...if it's ON earth I can see it REAL good. Especially if it's landed on earth. If it's flying on earth and away from earth- then, I think it all depends on HOW FAR away from earth it is. If you are talking about farther away like the satellites' orbit then maybe it's going to take a seeing medium like telescopes or other instruments to see them. You might get lucky seeing it with a naked eye but you won't be able to distinguish it from other sattelites, you will see it like a small dot of light moving very slowly.
