It sounds like it's ready for a tune up. If you have never taken it in to be checked out, I suggest you do.
If you're afraid of being ripped off by mechanics, tell them how honest you expect them to be and that you know a lot of people. Let them know that if they are honest with you and do only what is needed, you will recommend them to everyone.

There are many things to consider. While newer cars are great when they're running, when they start "mis-behaving", they are very troublesome because of all the sensors involved in keeping them running. You r problem could be a bad spark plug wire, or a cracked spark plug. Electricity, like water, follows the path of least resistance. If you have a crack in an insulator, or a wire; because of the pressures inside your engine, the plug can actually "mis-fire" and go to ground outside the engine. That being said, once your car is moving, the engine doesn't have to work as hard to "keep" thing moving, and will sometimes run "smoother". Actually, the problem is still there, it's just not as noticeable. Getting away from the electrical issues, this could also be a precursor to a fuel injector issue. Have it checked at your local "reputable" garage.

Could be as simple as a clogged air filter, possibly needs new spark plugs (it is an 01, not likely an electrical problem unless it has tons of mileage) or it could also be bad fuel. Nevertheless, it shouldn't be anything serious, that is normally a very reliable vehicle.

Try some simple minor tune up things. New Air filter, new fuel filter, new PCV valve, even new spark plugs. that should work wonders.
Try running some injector cleaner through your gas tank.
