I don't let my 12 year old have one. The internet safety guidelines that were taught at her school strongly suggest that the child shares the address with a parent. But if you do let her have her own you can always monitor it. Find out about parental controls when you sign her up.

No, almost all free e-mail services require their users be 13 or over. Unless you make it for her, but why would an 11-year-old want an e-mail?? I agree with answermonkey. Keep the password in order to monitor the mail received and sent.

I'm not trying to tell you how to raise your daughter, but yes. It is perfectly safe to have an e-mail address, no matter how old. I suggest jus monitiring her activity with the e-mail adress, though.

Of course it is! Well, you might have to tell a white lie, when filling out the "form" to get a free email adress, but it'll be fine. Try using Yahoo! like everyone else. You can also try AOL too.

yes she could get a email address from yahoo or where ever but do you want to worry about who is emailing her and all that.

It is possible, just be cautious about what she watches and who she gets in touch with. Internet is an open field for every kind of people. Just keep track of what she does and or check her e-mail together, there's no other way to weed out what gets in
