It's inhumanly hot. No winter, and little fall to speak of.
The ever-swelling population has turned any number of small towns into city suburbs, all with the same 12 restaurants.

Nearby Roswell and Alpharetta have passed mixed-use ordinances, which will permit the building of just about anything next to just about anything else.

It's becoming increasingly dangerous, and public funds are wasted on idiotic projects that do not serve the common good. Water is an ongoing problem, with the demand outstripping the supply most summers.

Downtown traffic continues to worsen; and everyone seems to be eternally tired, pressed for time, and in a bad mood. Although I've lived in big cities before...New York, Chicago, Houston, St. Louis, and Tokyo...I'm losing patience with Atlanta fast. I'm thinking it's time to get out of Dodge.

It's rather bleak compared to what it was about 15 years ago. Lots of driving, lots of heat, and lots of rude people. The food is still good (I lived in New York for a few years and I think Atlanta has better food, on the average). Economically, I spend about what I did in New York (car, commute, groceries). Insane smog. Can't really recommend Atlanta to anyone anymore; I'm looking to move myself...

I'm glad you got out when you did. It's like about any other city now. Chain restaurants, lots of pavement, et al.

I lived there for 6 years and loved it. All sorts of things to do. The bars and clubs are fun, the people are nice (they are all transplants for the most part) great singles town. I recently moved from ATL to another city in the Midwest to be closer to family and for a better job and still have mixed feelings about leaving. Go there enjoy it. One note of advice, Buckhead is dead, don't bother anymore unless you like violent crime. Downtown and midtown are safe and fun and some 'burbs are pretty nice and fun as well. It has a lot to offer, lots of singles, bars, lots of restaurants. I love the city and got around a lot there, although daytime the traffic is pretty bad, and the air gets bad in the summer time.
