I've often wondered the very same thing myself- wouldn't it be paradise on earth if we could all just realize that peace between all people is achievable only when we all decide to embrace diversity and realize that it's our diversity that we all have in common!
So many things "divide" us (if we choose to let them)- but unity and peace will come when these walls come down, and only WE can take those walls down- and I guess the first step is to "begin" with ourselves, and hopefully, the world will follow...
(If not, book me a seat on that rocket ship, will ya?)

Whatever race, color, creed or nationality you may be, in order to see "beyond the colorlines", first you have to live and behave in a manner that is acceptable to others no matter what their color. I am half Cherokee and half white. I'm not prejudiced against anyone, but I've met some black people, hispanics and orientals that were prejudiced against me, because I look white and they are blaming all white people because of the few that treated them badly. Reverse prejudice? I think you get as good as you give, so love your heritage, but don't blame me for all the slings and arrows (pun intended)!

I don't think the world will ever completely see beyond color lines. Unfortunately it seems like prejudice has just been drilled into some people's heads and passed on from generation to generation. It's sad but it's reality as we know it. I agree that we should all accept each others differences and not judge each over our various colors.

THANK YOU! that is exactly my question. Go see the movie REMEMBER THE TITANS. that'll make you think twice about race and ethnicity. We are all the same, all here under God's rule, abiding by the rules others and the Lord have set for us. And we should except eachother in differences because if we're all the same, then we'd be SO boring. So the life on Earth is short so treat people with the RESPECT they deserve.

You know in the past 20 years I have seen some inroads on people becoming more accepting of others where the only significant difference between them was color; however, of late I'm seeing a different kind of intolerance rising - religious intolerance. It really scares me because as bad as discrimination based on color is (and it truly is), religious intolerance always seems so much more volatile.

Not from the racist and bigoted crap I read on this site, if this is any example. Plus what you see and hear on the news. There are sadly plenty of morons in the world.

Good luck on the rocketing part. I hope that we can all join hands one day and sing "Kumbaya" together. Given the mindset of your average terrorist, however, it's a long shot.

Preaching to the choir, as my grandparents would say. I think the same as you, that we should celebrate our differences, not shun those who arent like us. But I think it is part of human nature to think different of those different than us. Think about it, as long as history goes back, different culture/skin color/etc. means different than us.
