Goth people are treated different because they expect to be treated different. The whole goth persona is like a shield. When some people are insecure and they don't want people to pick on them for who they are, they do things like becoming Goth so people will pick on the fact that they're Goth. To keep the focus on the lifestyle and not the life. Also to all of those who say they're just being original, you're wrong Goth kids have been around for a long long time. So how original can you be when you're doing what Goth kids have been doing for more than 20 years.

Probably due to the way they wear their clothes, and present themselves. People generally see them as devil worshippers, or something like that. Just because someone dresses in all black doesn't make them goth, and just because someone choose to be goth doesn't make them a bad person. After all, we don't tell preppies how to dress, or nerds for that matter, so why should they tell us?? I tended to have alot of goth friends in school, among others that hung out with us all, and we never seemed to have any issues. We all took each other for what we were, and didn't matter about stupid stuff like that. Most people just need to get a clue, and worry more about themselves. I'm sure if they looked hard enough they would see something about themselves that others didn't approve of.

I am not a goth. However, I do like goths and I believe that the reason that goths are treated so badly is because people view them as rebellious, and let's face it, it is human nature to dislike what they cannot control.

OK...don't shoot the messenger on this one as, even though I am not Goth, I happen to like it.

But, if you really want to know why some people may treat Goths badly, its b/c....

The image that is projected by someone who wears Goth clothing or has their hair or makeup a certain way is an anti-social image, as it is dark and dramatic and does not conform to the norm

It comes of as immature

It comes off as rebelling against society

It portrays an image of drug use and potential criminal

It comes off as just stupid, cheap and tasteless

It is misunderstood

Please don't take this personally, as it is not my opinion, it is just verbalizing what is most likely going on in someones mind when they are treating Goths badly

Goths are misunderstood . For example at my school people think they are creepy or worship the devil. I dont think that but if you goth people hang out with other people who werent goth there could be a change.

Bcuz humans don't usually love what they don't understand ,however we try to find the beauy in everything...I think we are some kind of evolution of the community full of hate and decite,u know that humans will know evloulote unless they put love wiz technology so I think we are better than them...
but every rule have its odds there is some gothics making crimes and pulling knives out of thier pockets ...so there is no real scale for it

I think every generation has it's thing they do...and it's never liked by the generation before it. Each one has to find it's own voice, make it's own statement, be different. I was in the hippie generation and we got it too. I was a flower child and the oldies just couldn't get into peace and love. Oh well, rock on sweetie! Or we'd say, "keep on truckin..."

Because they're hanging on to a form of dress and music that became officially lame about 10 years ago? And because the ones around today don't even know about the music and fashion that started it all, and they all talk about Marilyn Manson and know nothing about Bauhaus or Souxsie?
