2001 Nissan Altima GXE was fine until check engine light came on. DTC said MAF malfunction. Replace MAF and check engine light off. But car now still slow at accelerating and has poor engine power. Feels like the car is towing an extra load even when cruisng with foot off the pedal. Brakes are fine. Replaced plugs, air and fuel filter, distributor cap/rotor and wires. Car does not sputter. Just overall sluggishness at any speed and RPM. Thanks for any help.

The MAF sensor could have caused unburnt fuel to get into the catalytic converter, and caused it to clog. If no other codes are present, that would be what I would look at!

(last guy is a winner)
yeah check the connection on the MAF.... um, altho gas in the catalytic should clear up in a few days at the most... its gotta be somethin more, check the codes again if you havent already. being a Nissan owner, i know that even a loose wire can make everything go slow under the hood so make extra sure the MAF is the right one for your car and is hooked up

4 things come to mind. 1) clogged catalytic converter
2) clogged muffler
3) timing belt or chain loose and off just a bit.
4) fuel injectors or carburetor need cleaned.

Catalytic converters may be stopped up look at your exhaust manifold after a drive if it is glowing that is what it is and your car just might burn to the ground. "not likely" ;)
