There are those who feed off of other peoples popularity or success. It is definitely an issue of self esteem and confidence. By being a "fan" they feel they are a part of the success and can share in it.

What would be ideal is to turn this into something whereby she was helping people who need someone to cheer for them...just like herself. It's amazing how many people become counselors for others because of their own issues. They are able empathize and understand, where other can't.

Self-confidence doesn't come all at once. It comes from small steps and achievements, growing gradually towards bigger goals and aspirations.

Have her do a small thing, till she gets reallyu good at it, and loses the shyness, then slowly move on to the next level. I think she's just shy.

The only thing i can say is to probably find her a counselor or you can get her mom, best friend and/or, her boyfriend but you need to get her some help immediately because depression leads to suicide!!!!!
