I'm terrified of the dark! That's why I don't wear black or navy blue clothes...they're too dark. Whenever I see people wearing dark clothes, I just turn and run the other way. As you can imagine, it's tricky for me to make the twice-daily pilgrimage to McDonald's because sometimes I catch a glimpse of the black pants that the workers wear. Also, sometimes, on my unlucky days, the workers have navy blue shirts as well...it's really horrible!

The only time I'm afraid of the dark is if I'm outside or I hear or see something but don't know what it is. I'm also afraid to look at mirrors in the dark. Other than that, I actually love the dark.

Me-because I don't know what's there and as a whole we are conditioned to believe that most bad things-monsters like the boogy men come out at night. The dark has all the bad stuff-the devil demons while the light is good-Jesus Christ is the light. Then too my imagination starts working on my fears at night when I'm alone. In most horror movies esp vampire ones the dark is when all the blood starts flowing. That's why when I'm alone at night my lights stay on-my dog is in the garage for one can through the garage come into the house but don't think they'll get by my dog.

I used to be very afraid of the dark. I would turn off my light as a child and run and jump into bed and pull the covers over my face so I wouldn't see into my closet. I have gotten over it now, but I was so afraid of it then. Just the thought of something evil coming out of the dark scares us all I think.

I used to be more scared but recently I've had to spend alot of time in the dark so its not as bad. People are afraid of what they don't know and in the dark i get so freaked out about all the possibilities I don't know about.

It is a primal fear, because humans are not nocturnal creatures by nature. So they tend to be a bit more cautious and alert at night, in the dark. Sometimes this cautiousness can lead to anxiety and fear. When this anxiety becomes excessive, it is deemed a phobia. Pathological fear of the dark is called nyctophobia.
I love the dark, especially in the mountains, where I grew up. It is so deliciously mysterious and beautiful.
