i am going to be a senior and i remember being in your position. i have been a cheerleader since the 5th grade. you need to figure out if you are left or right side dominant first. in other words... what way feels most comfortable. after you have done that then you can start working toward experimenting. Start with your body out like an x/k and put one toe pointing out. make your momentum steady and keep you moving in a circular movement. it might take awhile to get it all down but if you use a buddy they can help hold your body and your feet. dont forget to finish it with your hands up. Good luck at making the cheerleading squad!!! Its a blast and you get some really close friendships from it too!

If you're right-handed, point your right foot forward and push with your left leg and at the same time put your right hand down first and then your left. That should work... but if not you should just keep trying and experimenting because a written explanation isn't as good as you getting out on some grass and falling on your butt a couple of times.

If you got the basics down. The movement. You just must remember to keep your toes pointed and legs stretched and follow through -- keep the motion going until both legs are back on the the ground. And when u finish make sure your hands are up.
Good luck on the cheering, I cheered for years -- it's the greatest.

Stand with your right foot out in front of you a little.
Push of from your left foot and put your right hand a tad up from your right foot, fingers facing outwards.
Make sure your left hand follows quickly (you can hold your arms in a V shape to make sure) and that it is placed in front of your right one.
Your legs will spin around and be on the other side.

Keeping your arms rigid and having good momentum are very important. Unless you're a really heavy chick, or VERY weak, your arms should be able to support your body weight for that split second needed. Trusting themselves for that moment is the hardest part for most people.

in case you stick your left hand up contained in the air, your acceptable hand and acceptable foot out horizontally, and stability on your left foot, lean ahead and characteristic your acceptable hand hit the floor first, it fairly facilitates. Or in case you bypass on a hill, yet no longer a steep one.
