It's kind of like the 50 United States, only there's just 4 of them, and the capital is in one of them (instead of in a neutral district, like Washington D.C.). And Ireland is like a really angry Canada.

(It's also like the old Soviet Union, which we sometimes called "Russia," even though Russia was just the most prominent of the several republics.)

Yes, to a degree.
Wales, Scotland and (sometimes) Northern Ireland have their own assemblies. These countrol basic reigonal policies such as education, health etc and Parliament does not intervene here.
However, in all forms of Foreign policy, Defense policy, Trade/Economic and Justice policies etc, Parliament is sovereign.

We must remember as well that what Parliament gives, it can take away. These assemblies can, legally, be closed if needed. Parliament still controls this contry, wether we like it or not.

P.S.Im English but i favour reigonal devolution in most aspects
