I like the old skool Bone Thugs and 2pac and I can't really get into the new songs like Ciara, Chris Brown, Kalieah or whatever her name who sings that song "I'm bossy". If you know what I mean just holla.

Yep. I hate having to hear Lil Jon tell me to "snap my fingers" and that "I can do it all by myself." Unless I'm missing something, he's a moron.

Today's rap is not the problem, it's the prefabricated new brand of slavery in America today. Most of the mainstream rap is heavy into perpetuating the stereotype that all black people are ignorant, money-hungry, thuggish, and violent.

Also, most of today's mainstream rap is interchangable, for instance "Shake Ya ***" by Mystikal, "Shake Ya Tailfeather" by Nelly, and "Back That *** Up" by Juvenile are basically the same song.

If you want great rap that actually matters, is creative, and isn't the same old thing as you have heard from everyone else, go catch some Mos Def, Talib Kwali, Immortal Technique, Tech N9ne, Sage Francis, Anticon, Sentence, Jurassic 5, and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien... that's your starter homework.

Hope I could help.

i'm with ya... except i do like Eminem and D12 (i do live 15 min. from Detroit, so i may be a bit partial!)

i like the old school rap so much better, like~
Cypress Hill (1st cd)
House of Pain
NWA
2Pac (best rapper ever, by the way!)
Public Enemy
Funkdoobiest
Arrested Development
Das EFX
Black Sheep
A Tribe Called Quest
Digital Underground
the list goes on....

today, rap is getting worse and worse! CRUNK?! what is with that crap? enough already with "Poppin' Cristal" and ridin' on yachts and these skanks in every video... have some originality like the old days!

What about Young Jeezy? All the Gangsta Grillz cds are good, I reccomend Jeezys and lil waynes the dedication 1 & 2 are bangin. Project pat is getting ready to drop a cd also.

ABout the Lil jon comment above, he's talking about snap dancing, which is big down south.

@Connor (soul guy) i such as you for asserting that. I wish genuinely everyone in this section might choose Hip-Hop by ability of this is extreme factors and correct artists, Rakim, De l. a. Soul, Wu-Tang prolonged kin, Public Enemy, Kool G Rap, A Tribe referred to as Quest, Blackalicious, The Roots, Nas, straight forward, etc. Hip-Hop is many of the main lyrically dense music obtainable, crammed with triple-entendres, metaphors, personification, sh*t that makes you easily think of. And has matters like politics, love, betrayal, narratives, conspiracy theories, etc. FYI: If i became doing an identical factor as genuinely everyone else to Rock, that would desire to be like me judging the completed Rock kind by ability of Nickelback and Fall Out Boy.

Todays rap is prosaic and without any merit.Pure unadulterated horse manure.Unless you are a dung beetle, you will fine this "music" quite insipid.

Is rap whacky ? Yes it is whacky...made just for singers that can't.
"Do you understand"
"I wanta do a man."
"Take my hand."
"Before you be the man."
"I wanta go to town."
"And push it all around."
Golly, I just made a song. Sounds as good as any rap I've ever heard. I think I'll speard the word.
Give me a break...That just ain't music.

Much of today's rap has gone mainstream and as it has, changed. Whether or not it's good is up to each individual. :-)
