my son is 8 weeks old and has gone for two weeks without pooping. I use enemas to help him out. Is he sick?

Dr. now.

Have to agree with the others. I'm an RN - don't give enemas to an 8 week old baby. 2 weeks is 1.5 weeks too long - you need to contact the baby's physician right away.

Enemas for a newborn? That's totally not a good plan. What does your pediatrician say? You should have daily bowel movements. Get thee to a doctor, tomorrow.

Take him to a doctor. Long time use of enemas and laxatives can cause dependence and he will have long term problems with his bowels.

I know this is going to sound bad, but put some Vaseline on the end of a Q-tip, insert it (not deep!) into him, and take it out. Then get out of the way, and wait for the poop!!

You really need to see a doctor. The doctor made tell you to give the kid some caro syrup or probe its bum with some vaseline. That is pretty long time not to poop.

let him poop on his own. if you keep taking the poop out of him for him, he won't have any poop left to poop... does that make sense? sorry i said poop a lot. maybe take him to the doctor... i dont think enemas are safe for babies.
