It doesn't stay in a particular time zone, since it is in orbit around the earth and is not stationary.

You can check its location on the NASA Orbitial Tracking website:
http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/tracking/

At the moment it looks to be located over the west coast of North America, so I'd say it is in the Pacific Time Zone right now.

it uses zulu time which is what most multi-time zone organizations (such as militiaries, space raiders, etc.) use. Just in case you don't know, that is the time zone which goes through the Greenwich meridian in England. It's basically where the time zones begin.

it isnt in anyone time zone. It orbits the eart passing through 1 time after another as it moves. it probably isnt in any 1 time zone for more than a couple minutes

I expect it either works to Houston time (ie. Central), or it works to 'Zulu' time like aviation does, zulu time meaning GMT.

GMT is not necessarily always the time at Greenwich, England, because the UK is on BST (British Summer time), GMT+1, in the summer.

they would use the time zone from which they launched so they are synched with the ground crew, so if they launched from cape canaveral in FLA, I believe that would be the Eastern time zone

Wow, good question...

In my humble opinion, I would say that they are on whatever time NASA is on. Nasa is in Florida so I would assume Florida time, Eastern Standard Time (I think it is called).

God bless & Hugs from Texas. {:-)
