I have different varieties of lillies in my yard and some of them are being eaten by these red beetles. Any ideas what they are and how to get ride of them?

oh honey, I feel your pain. I asked tha same question a couple days ago. I looked all over the internet and the news does not appear to be good. They are called "red lily leaf beetles". Google that and you will see many sites with people who have our problem. They are evil little buggers!!

You'll have to investigate, and there is an oil you can spray on the plants, that way the beetles will fall off. There is an insecticide that you could use too, ask the local garden center, as there are different laws in different states...Good luck

u can try to make a hot pepper spray, put hot peppers and water in a blender, strain, put in spray bottle, spray lightly on plant at dusk, dont get it in ur eyes, might help, i use it for japeneese beetles, keeps varments away too, good luck, lillies are beautiful flowers i have them around my waterfall in my garden pond.

The best thing that really works is a spray called Sevin. Wal Mart,Home Depot ect carry it. Spray every 10 days and you won't have a problem with them.

hi water well then at night sponkle salt.table salt in your garden. as odd as it sounds it works great. all so if you plant the small yellow lillies in you garden.they will keep the weeds out.
