Actually, what is best for your babies is to put them to sleep in your bed with you. It reduces the risk of SIDS, something that can be particularly important if you have twins (because they are often born early and/or small--risk factors for SIDS). If you don't have a queen or king size bed, it can get crowded, though; you may want to consider getting *yourself* a new bed instead of a bed for them.

I wouldn't do the hammock of the Amby thing doesn't seem safe or smart for the long run. My son is sleeping in a smaller crib a little bigger than a portable crib. Buy one regular size crib and put them both in it for now, start making room for another crib you will need another one soon. There are these little foam things called secure sleepers that you can use to keep each baby in their own place it will work for a least 3 to 4 months. There is also a playpen that is made for twins you could use it in the living room for nap time or temporally till you have room for at least 2 port a cribs. You can find a port a crib at Toys R Us or at Babies R Us. They run for about $100.00 ea and you could probably use them for about 2 years, depending on the weight of each child. They fold up easily and travel well. I hope this helps. keep looking before you buy something that is not safe for the babies.

There is something called the Amby bed, which is a baby hammock. I am not sure it would be less space then a crib though. Actually, you need a moses basket. They are sold at Wal Mart for very cheap, or you can go online and find extreamly expensive ones. It just depends on what you want.

My friend has a 14 month old who has never slept in a crib. She slept in a moses basket until she was to big, then moved to a crib matress onthe floor.

Anyway, search moses baskets. Or go to http://www.ambybaby.com/ Either one of these are great options. I would be careful just getting any baby hammock though. But the Amby beds claim to have a 0% rate of SIDS.

A baby hammock only holds a baby up to 25 pounds, my daughter is 7months and 20 pounds now so you will have to find room for a crib sooner or later. Not only that once babies learn how to turn over they prefer to sleep that way in the baby hammock they can't do that.Don't believe every commercial you see.Try asking the question on YA as to what was the one item new mothers(especially those of twins could not live without)Good luck!!!

I didn't have a crib because I was poor , a playpen worked and can be folded up when not used , two can fit in it .But as for the hammock go to Toys R Us and manager will help locate one there or order one .I assume you tried the Internet , also baby specialty furniture stores but they can be high priced . Ask a church near you , even if your not a member there , most will post " mom having twins , anyone have %^&%^ and many people will help "FREE , clothes , furniture , etc ., just make it a point to thank them all . Best to you and your family .

I would not trust a baby in anything other than a crib. If you absolutely have no room, make a pallet on the floor for the babies. You have to make due with what you have. Cribs are so much easier and safer, but if you can't fit one crib, theres obviously no way you will fit 2. But what are you going to do when the babies are bigger and moving more? Keep the babies SAFE no matter what you decide. This is most important.

You are not out of your mind!! It is called a Happy Hangup. It holds newborns upto 35 pounds. What you want is NOT at all crazy! There is NO reason to have a crib in your home, and just because you can't fit one in your house, DOES not mean that you shouldn't have children! My son didn't use his crib until he was 17 months old. Up until then, he slept wtih ME in MY bed!!! He loved it there, and I was able to get a lot more sleep...I spent $500 on a crib that sat in his room holding stuffed animals!!
Do what feels best for YOU! Babies are VERY safe in hammocks, and if you feel like it you could even get 2 Co-sleepers that fit in your bed. You can pick them up at Target, Babies R us, stores like that....
Please don't listen to any one here, they are out of their minds...They have been "brainwashed" by DR's and TV that babies are "safest" in a crib! That is crap. Numerous studies have linked SIDS to smoking while pregnant and after, poor prenatal care..NOT to sleeping in something other than a crib!!
I have many friends that LOVE their AMby and Happyhangup....and have NEVER used or owned a crib!!

Good Luck!!

I have twins and as a mother I'll tell you the hammock thing sounds kind of weird/scary. We started out with them both in a portable crib, but that doesn't last too long. They get too big and they start to move around too much, but it was OK for a couple of months. Bassinets are good, but you will need two and also do not last long. Good luck!

Those baby hammocks are dangerous and should never be used as a long term sleeping bed for infants. If you are expecting twins, you really need to rethink your living conditions. Surely, somewhere in your home, you can manage to squeeze in two tiny cribs. Or start with 2 cradles.

If you don't have room for a crib you shouldn't be pregnant. Anyway, a baby hammock sounds dangerous and that doesn't seem like it would be very good support for a newborn's back...it could be a bad thing. Get a couple of bassinets if you don't have alot of room to work with.

well, honey, congrats on the baby. Double congrats! well, I don't think that a hammock is the safes way to go. I have seen people on tv put the babies in one crib, but again, I don't know that , that is all that safe either. You need to find a place to make room. If you have to , put them in the living room or something. I mean its not that it would n't be ice for them to have baby room, but I hope tha tyou figure out something and take care of yourself, and them little ones.
