phd will take as long as you want it to take but most scholarships seem to go for 4 - 5 years. my husband took 5 years plus another year waiting for it to be marked and re submitting and marked again. it's a long process but you can make serious money when you're employed with those letters after your name

A PhD takes different people different amounts of time. If you have a Masters it would take less time, then if you did not. If you go straight for PhD and skip Masters it might save you a year or so. Many programs allow that.

Most likely you will make more and have more job opportunities with a PhD.

Call the Psychology Department at the University you wish to attend and ask these questions.

Ph.D. times vary. Usually 2 years of coursework & research and then developing a series of studies of high enough quality to qualify as a dissertation. This usually takes at least another 2 years after the 2 years of coursework. I think average is 5 years total.
If you've done grad studies in psych already, then you may not have to take all of the courses, but usually schools have their own Ph.D. tract so you don't save much if any time.

As for salaries, it varies by subdiscipline in psychology. Ph.D.'s who go into private practice in counseling or clinical can make a lot, six figures pretty quick.

Here's a good website for salary information:

You can sometimes earn a PhD and bypass a Masters degree. If you want both, a PhD could be 1-3 years beyond the receiving a Master's degree.

It really depends on the program. Some programs if you have a Masters degree already it can take you as few as two-three years. Others can take up to five additional years.

As for pay, there is a website the gov't puts out that lists average and median pay for almost every occupation, but I can't recall it off the top of my head. Try a search for that.

That all depends on the student doesnt it? If it were me....it would take me til the end of time...then probably another semester after that for good measure.
