Insert the XP CD into your CD drive
Reboot the PC and it should start the Windows setup
During the setup, it will prompt you, asking if you want to format the hard drive. Tell it yes.
Windows will do the format and then install XP for you.

Remeber that you will lost any files (music, pictures, documents, etc.) you have saved on your hard drive when you format it.

Also be sure you have a working serial number for XP before you format the drive. Otherwise you will not be able to finish reinstalling XP, and the computer will not run without it.

1) Place the Windows XP disk into your CD drive
2) Restart your computer, and as it restarts, press F8 to enter the advanced startup options.
3) Find and select the "Boot from CD-ROM" option
4) Follow all onscreen instructions

During this process, it will show you any 'partitions' currently used, which would be the OS you have installed now (if any) You should delete that partition for a fresh start, because then you select the freshly wiped partition to install Win XP on. It will also ask you which way you want to format your Hard Drive.

Once installation is complete, install any other disks (Driver Disks, Sound Card Disks, etc), then setup your internet connection and run Windows Update

**Tip** If you Don't have all your drivers on disk, set up your internet connection first, and you can go to your computer manufacterers website, under support, and find all the drivers that go with the exact system you have, even if its customized. Thats what I had to do and it worked great

You need a Windows XP CD. This CD can NOT be an UPGRADE disk. If it is an UPDRAGE Disk, then you need the other kind that will allow you to do a Fresh Installation. You put in the disk and reboot the computer. When its rebooting, it will say Press any key to boot from disk. Press any key. Now, follow the onscreen instructions to make a Clean Installation.

Just place your windows XP Cd into your drive and follow the screen instructions. There it will allow you to format your drive and do the fresh install. Before you do that make sure you have all the drivers for your hardware.

It took me so long to work out how to do this. You need to put your windows xp reinstallation disk into your computer, and i think restart your computer. I think there should be something that says repair windows or something like that (i did this a while ago). When you finally manage to get into DOS mode (not the msdos prompt from windows), i think the command is: format c:

What take position is once you delete the partition, it turns into 'unpartition area'. 'C' force gained't reclaim the area till you delete the C and D force earlier installation and the rebuilt the force as a unmarried partition with C force being the purely partition. domicile windows will then format the force earlier the installation of XP. What you at present have is empty area on your hard disk and the C force partition. you'll get the D: back by using going to regulate Panel> Administrative device>workstation administration>Disk administration. You construct the partition and format it back. even if, in case you want to make a unmarried force (C force ) without reinstallation of XP, thenm you want to get application like Partition Magic.
