I have lived in America, the country, and also in Europe. I prefer neither over the other. America the country is great for their quality of life, competititive pricing, and the friendly, mannered and happy people. Europe is full of too many countries with too many different cultures and attitudes to group it together. Individually, I prefer Italy for it's people, warmth and attitude towards life and also Spain and Portugal for the same reason. You can keep France. Never have seen a happy person in France and I do believe it is illegal to smile in that country. Also Germany you can have as I find the people too pushy and rude.
England has some friendly people and lovely countryside as does Scotland and Wales, but the British youth have gotten extremely violent (too much drink). My own Country (Ireland) has good and bad points. We are NOT the land of a 100,000 Welcomes unless of course you are visiting the Country. But here in Dublin people have become rude and very unfriendly.
I think Americans are the friendliest people on Earth. Everytime I holiday there I am treated in a grand way. And no matter what the stereotypes, Americans are not loud (that would be the British), ill mannered (Americans always say please, thank you, and even hold the door for me). Go to France or Germany if you want ill mannered.
If you mean to imply that we Europeans are more stylish, I beg to differ with you. Women and Men in Rome and France are stylish yes. But I say Chicago, New York (two cities where I lived) and many other parts of America that I visited are just as stylish.
Anyone ever noticed that Americans always look so clean. I wash everyday, but I never look as clean as they do.

I'd live in America only because I could be a slob and no one cares. I'm from the UK and going to mainland Europe is like going to another planet, they really are soooooo much more stylish.
If I had to be serious, it's Europe all the way. Better food, longer life, 89 million fashion capitals...

Well, I like America because of it's convenience. Most of us have cars and we are drive-through obsessed. We are so lazy.
On the other hand, I like the history of Europe-the sense of a real past. The old buildings that are still in use are beautiful and unique. I like the open-mindedness of the people in Europe. It's a tough call really.

America!!!! (US to be specific)
I love the diversity, the government (the way its set up) is better than Europes...did you know that their "speaker of the house" isn't aloud to speak? haha..yeah...i saw it on tv...it just sounded funny to me.
And I would like to agree with "Anne's" answer above. I've also lived in both (America the Country) and I've lived in Italy and and Germany.
The American people are much more friendly, and mannered than the people living in Germany.
I'd live in Italy if I had to live in Europe
I'd live in the US if i had to live in America
I'd live in the US if i had the choice!
UUSSAA!
I'm Damn Proud to be an American
DANKE SCHOeN sir for such a lively lil question!

Good question, for me personally I would say the major cities in the Northeastern U.S. or LA and San Francisco out west, Honolulu would be fine also. As a whole however I would say that Europe is probably more enlightened.

america is more free. i would imagine the welcome you receive depends on where you are from - i don't think europe would be very welcoming to americans. (at least, france wouldn't.)
as for which is more enlightened and stylish, that's a matter of opinion. snobs tend to look down on america and claim that europe is the height of cool.
i would definitely prefer to stay where i am (america).

I would definatelly choose my homeland of America for the benefit of opportunity and the people I love.
However, living in Europe was wonderful. I wouldn't trade my time there for anything either. There is definately many more places to vacation there, and a lot of things to do.
