I think I heard someone say that the citrus, or vitamin C or something in oranges keeps bugs away.

No, but tomato leaves keep bugs away. Also I found a web site that lists various plants that repel bugs.....

I tell you what get an orange and sit it out and see if it works iam just telling you right off the bat it wont, but you could try it any way

Oranges attract bugs, in my experiance they have,bananas attract them too
