is it wierd if a guy (me) writes poetry?

cuz ive been called a homosexual (which im not), a girl, and soft because of it. do girls like getting poetry?

I would love it. It shows the guy has a sensitive side. But it can't completely suck, and even if it does, girls usually appreciate the thought. I would absolutely love it if I had a boyfriend that wrote me poetry. Most of the time that means you're a guy that actually cares. Like if a girl says, "Do you like this shirt or the other one better?" You actually answer instead of saying, "Whatever you like." Or mumbling. We asked you because we want to know what YOU think. Guys that do that kind of stuff and write poetry are the BEST ever, in my book. I think it's perfectly fine if a guy writes poetry. It's because girls are so used to seeing guys and men like their fathers absorbed in manly sports and not caring a thing about girls or what they think about besides sex. When guys act different than that, some girls are stupid enough to think that the guy is homosexual becuase they actually have a brain.

No, I think it's really sweet when guys write poetry. I actually wish that my bf would write or, at least, read it. Anyways, if you have the talent, you should be proud. Poetry isn't something that just anyone can write and if you can write it, you should. I'm not sure about all girls, but I know that I'd like to get poetry. I'm sure that a lot of other girls do to.

I think its very cool that you write poetry. Not all guys can express themselves very well and if you can then thats great. Being able to write means that you are artistic. Take songwriters for instance they are poets. Its just that their poetry is set to music. I wouldn't worry about those people calling you soft. I know it obviously bothers you to hear them say that but just remember its their opinion and its not the reality. You have to just do your own thing. If you love to do it then do it. In my experience when somebody picks on something its usually because they are a little jealous. Maybe they are worried about you stealing their girlfriends. A guy that can write is so hot. So keep it up!

poets r so cool.if girls like music,then they should know that poetry is a form of music,except without musical sounds in it.it's not weird at all.i think it's cute for a guy to write poetry.it doesn't mean ur shallow or homosexual.im sure u will meet someone someday who actually likes ur poetry and who also doesn't call u a homo for writing it.good luck with more poetry.

First off its totally cool to be a guy who writes poetry. Its my understanding the ladies do enjoy poetry. As far as it being weak or girly its not.

I write poetry, I am also a martial artist, an old world carpenter, and overall not very girly. I like sawdust and blood... How can you go wrong?

Not weird, there are so many guy poets of every type, look at all those song writers out there, check out the article with some of his poems about our new Poet Laureate Donald Hall. Keep writing what you feel, and yes, some girls like to receive poetry, just like there are some guys out there who like to write it.
