i have a kenmore also, after 3 months i had to replace the ice maker. it was under warranty tho, the service tech guy said that tha have had many problems with these ice makers. mine was bought in 05!
also u might have trash in ur line that is not allowing water to ur maker. u can flush the system. also check to see that the valve is open all the way on the ice maker box at wall or is not damaged

try it without the filter and see if that helps, if so the filter may be faulty.
check the valve where the water line connects to the ice maker line and make sure it is turn all the way on.
make sure the line isn't clogged.
make sure it is connected to the cold water line, sometimes the installer makes a mistake and connects to the hot instead.
ice makers are not expensive(you can get one for about$50). and
fairly easy to install.

Sounds like a water line problem. Can you hear the ice maker working? If it goes thru the process and still no ice it is a water problem. m
