As you probably know, .jgp/.jpeg and .gif are types of images.

JPEGs are better for photos from a digital camera whereas GIFs are much better for computer generated images (including Print Screens).

GIFs can also be moving almost like a short, low quality video but JPEGs are always still.

Hope that solves it!

A JPEG is an editable picture file if you have the software. A GIF is a Graphic Image File. JPEG is also a better file than GIF in my opinion.

JPEG and GIF are different formats for pictures.

JPEG (which usually as a jpg extension) uses a compressed format that allows it to save pictures in a smalle size file then other formats, but sacrifices some of the quality and clarity of the picture, Most picture editing programs can read and save pictures in jpg format. It is commonly used on the Internet because of its smaller file sizes.

GIF is a picture format that uses what is called "interlacing" - stands for graphic interlacing format. Interlacing means that you can take several pictures and combine them so that they act like frames in a movie, giving you animated picture. (Although you can make a GIF file with only one picture that is not animated). While many picture editing programs can read and save single pictures in GIF format, you need an GIF animator program to make the move files.

It's just the quality of the picture. JPEG is higher quality than GIF.

They are different compression methods with different features. GIFs can be transparent and are best of sold colors like in lettering or line drawings. JPEGs are usually used for photographs. JPEGs cannot be transparent
