two very talented soul singers from around the same era. i personally prefer the work of marvin gaye, and not even so much his infamous work with tammi terrell and the "let's get it on" album, but more his later work when he did albums like "here my dear" and "i want you". Al Green also made a lot of great music, and also seems to have a more commercial popularity. So who do you prefer?

Wow...what a great question! Wish I could answer it...lol. I'll have to agree with everybody else, (well, except for the guy, who calls himself Tinkerbell and says you're gay).

Both artists made such lasting contributions to the industry, that it's just impossible for me to choose one over the other.

I will say, and shallowly, I admit, that Marvin Gaye was better looking, and had a wonderful, infectious smile!

You're right in saying that both were talented artists. Another one that could be compared to them from that time period is Otis Redding. "Sittin' on the (Dock of the Bay)".
I'll also agree that I prefer Marvin Gaye. I liked his later music and wonder what projects/music he could have came out with if his life hadn't been tragically cut short.

I really like both too, I wish Marvin Gaye's Sexual healing and Lets get It On were not played so much on mainstream radio, those two songs have been so overplayed. I like his older music too , it's a toss up for me, i can't decide.

Wow! That's kind of a toss up! Marvin's voice is much smoother, but Al Green's old stuff (Still in Love With You, Let's Stay Together, etc.) are classics. I think they are both awesome.
