As an African American (and a liberal Democrat), I won't say that I don't trust Republicans. I think I'm a fair person. I actually have a few Republican associates (some that are actually African American). One of my favorite people (who doesn't consider herself affiliated with a party) almost always votes Republican. However, as a Southerner, I'm more wary of Republicans than I am of Democrats. Since I'm pretty much surrounded by them, I've had a lot of personal experience with them. I'll also qualify that by saying conservative Republicans. Although I think it's safe to say not all conservative Republicans are racist, I've met a lot of racists who are conservative Republicans (I'm sure that there are racists in ALL parties, but this has been my personal experience). And even on this site, I've seen a LOT of conservative Republicans make disparaging remarks about other races. Even on some of your questions about African Americans, some of the more negative responses seem to have come from those leaning conservative/Republican. That only adds to the dislike and distrust. However, I give all people a fair shot.
______________________________
When you have a conservative answer this question with (see below), "Unfortunately for blacks, their leaders are all communists," that doesn't help either. Like most people, African Americans don't enjoy mass generalizations. Saying that all black leaders are "communists" isn't exactly going to endear me to conservative Republicans when I hear such comments. None of my so-called "leaders" have ever advised me to hate Bush. Implying that all black people will mindlessly follow what a political figure tells them is ludicrous. I've heard black political figures express concern with Bush's policies, but like any intelligent person, I research multiple sources before making a decision. And like any reasonable person, I recognize that these are not the views of ALL conservative Republicans, but it doesn't help either ...

Unfortunately for blacks, their leaders are all communists. They support the evil communist agenda of the democratic party over the interests of their people. This is no joke. The democrats are out in the open as racist. Meanwhile the republicans put blacks into respected positions of power and Bush has done more for the black community then all of the previous administration in the history of america, combined. Still, he is hated by blacks because their leaders tell them to hate him. They do this because they care nothing for black interests and only care about communism. And Bush doesn not support that agenda.
Blacks better wake up to what is going on or they are going to find themselves disenfranchised. Their leaders are selling them out to something sick and evil.

OK I'm just being real so hope no one gets hurts. Republicans believe more in corporate
America, Middle class. And most of all they believe in less government involvement which means if you make money republicans believe you should be able to spend it the way YOU want to. They believe that if there is a problem YOU should fix it not wait on the government for a hand out. They believe in government help as long as your TRYING to help yourself. You see all to ofter the people want to live there life recklessly and without responsibility because they know the government will slide in and bail em out. 78% percent of minorities live in poverty so.

Why do so many white Americans dislike and distrust the Republicans. As a measure of statistics, my boy, you will find this is a more accurate question.

because Republicans are conservatives... they often say that things were best in the "good ol' days"...
do you know any black people that want to live in the 1850s in America or even the 1950s?

Because when told enough lies, anyone would start to actually believe that Republicans hate them and are out to bring them down.
