I had a dream that I was marrying a cartoon character (Valon, the Australian guy that had a crush on Mai, from Yu-Gi-Oh)! What does this mean?

someone says it is escape from reality, however, that is not how I see it. It all depends on what that character is.
I am not too famiilar with Austrailian cartoon character. However, I will help you analyze your dream.
Look at that character and see how and why it attracts you. May be cartoon character can give you a clue why you are marrying him. If he is funny, maybe in your life you need someone who has sense of humor. If he is very knowledgeable or educational, you may be looking for somone who has high quality of education.

That you want to be in a cartoon, that you would rather be a cartoon character, than a real person. Maybe that you want to get married, and you think the man you marry, will look like that character.
