First of all remember this will be a small city court,
There most likely will not be a DA, merley the officer or police cheif presenting the case, and the judge will be an city employee also, often a part time job and he is also one of the main attorneys in town.
So remember it will be in general your word against a officer everyone in court knows and will most likely have lunch with.
An attorney would check into the POST certifications and the such but even with evidnece in small town southern courts often do no good, It is often much easier and cheaper to merley pay them.

Depends on whether your issue is the money or the driving record?
If it is the driving record, then calling the magistrate and politely offering to pay the fine without pleading guilty, IF it won't be reported is often successful. A trick I learned from someone who gets *lots* of tickets but still has a license. If you care about the money... good luck.

Go to court , most of the time the issuing cop doesn't show up for the court appearance...If he does then plea no contest...It's not admitting guilt or innocence...The judge usually makes you pay the fine and you don't get any points. If you are not a habitual speeder they won't even make you go to school.

hire a lawyer to take care of it for you, it may cost around 300.00 or so, but the same thing happened to me, you don't even have to appear in court, and the points won't go on your driving record. they will get it dismissed or reduced, you just have to pay for it. I'll bet you have already started getting letters from attorneys in the mail. i wouldn't bother to fight it.
