I am pretty sure it is a real disorder...but everyone gets lazy and stupid once in awhile...hang in there and do what your doctor and parents suggest and everything will be fine!

It is very, very real. My ex husband, his 2 grown kids, and all 3 of my fiance's teen daughters have it. They are NOT lazy and stupid (except my ex husband that is). They just have a really hard time focusing.

Explain it this way: someone with ADD or ADHD is constantly thinking. Their minds NEVER stop. They are really hyper. Since their minds are constatnly on the go, they cannot focus. They are very impulsive so they don't always know what they are doing, don't realize the consequences to their actions until they are punished, etc., and when they watch a movie, they really can't tell you what it is about because they are unable to foucs on it for very long, unlike someone without ADD or ADHD. Does this sound like someone that is lazy and stupid? NO. It sounds like someone with a disease that needs to be controlled with diet and or meds as well as learning ways to control the symptoms, etc.

When I was young I went in and got tested for ADHD and they said I had it. But my parents didn't follow the directions and keep me up late, I slept like 10 hours the night before I was tested. After a couple weeks my parents didnt give me my meds anymore a year later I got tested and they said I was normal...I don't know if it's real but I know a LOT more kids are being diagnosed with it now than 10 or 15 years ago.

It is indeed a real disorder (not disease) and people with it do need assistance. BUT at the same time it is over diagnosed and used as an excuse by parents with out of control kids.

Wjhen I first read your question, I was in tears from laughing! Not because it's not a smart question because it is so original and I never looked at it that way. I don't think it was made up because I have seen people who have the symptoms and since being on medication, have improved their focus and behavior. I'm not going to lie, I have seen some parents that put their children through treatments to recieve financial benefits from Social Security.

I really think it's made up. The reason I think this is when I was young and a wild child that wouldn't pay attention in school. My paretns never heard anything about ADD I just wasn't listening. I think they except to much out of kids nowdays in school and I think they are normal and need to get out of the house stop playing video games and run until they aren't hyper anymore. Kids are kid..........
Hyper is normal....

Does this mean that kids with SUBTRACT are super smart and never lazy? How about kids with MULTIPLY or DIVIDE? I wonder what problems they must have or not have.
