I once brought an archer fish and the seller adviced me that the fish is being kept in freshwater.
I got it home (i can't remeber how long) but it didnt live long.
Is he right? are there Archer fish that can be kept in freshwater?

They are a brackish water fish. Brackish is neither fresh water, nor marine water. They do require sea salt, with a specific gravity of between 1.004 and 1.010. Marine tanks require between 1.020 and 1.024, depending on what you keep.

Sorry but I don't completely agree - archer fish can be kept in anything from fresh to marine water - depends what they were bred in.

Hey man. Archerfish are brackish water fish. Meaning they live in half salt half fresh. They can be keep in either one, just depends on if they were reared in fresh or salt.

archers are both freshwater and brackish but defiantly NOT saltwater unless you want to kill it.
